Mission: Our Neighbor's Child began in 1992 with a few families' efforts to help 30 to 40 children from low income families in Western Fairfax County. The organization has now grown to include over 100 volunteers each year but the original mission has never changed. The focus is still providing toys and clothing for children of low income families during the holidays. Now, the all-volunteer network is organized with team leaders for the various tasks associated with providing gifts for over 600 children. The specific gift requests from the families are filled by churches, schools, businesses and other community groups in addition to toys and clothing purchased from the funds provided by generous donors. The toys and clothing for each family are organized and assembled, then hand delivered prior to the holidays along with a plate of home made holiday sweets. One of the unique features of Our Neighbor's Child is that it has NO administrative expenses. EVERY dollar raised goes directly to gifts of toys and clothing for the children. All public relations, transportation, storage, office, organizational and administrative expenses are donated by volunteers of the groups.
