Mission: The purpose of the orwigsburg library shall be: to establish and maintain a free, public, nonsectarian library to serve the informational, educational, and recreational needs of the residents of the blue mountain school district. The library shall provide free lending and reference services, and provide free internet access via computer to its patrons. The library shall utilize an organized and currently useful collection of printed items and other materials, including the computer, and offer the services of a staff trained to recognize and provide for the needs of its patrons.
Programs: The orwigsburg library offers library services to the residents of orwigsburg borough and the surrounding communities with computers, wifi, copying, scanning, faxing and trained staff to assist young and old. Our library offers a multitude of programs throughout the year for adults, children, and families. A sample of the programs available at our library includes: book club meeting monthly at the library; weekly story hour for elementary-age children; weekly knitters group; weekly one-on-one computer help; bi-weekly mahjongg group; weekly lego club; weekly media madness club; thursday family programing; friday play k program to help kids get ready to attend preschool; monthly crafty saturday for elementary-age children; summer reading program, monday math and wednesday science nights for children to combat summer brain drain. The library is here 50 hours per week to meet the needs of its patrons and community.
