Mission: The purpose of the organization is to educate its members who are elected officials of the towns, villages, and cities of orange county new york to better prepare them to serve the residents of their respective municipalities. The organization will host monthly meetings for members to discuss common issues that arise through performance of duties as elected officials and delivering services to residents. These meetings will include guest speakers to inform and educate members on a range of subjects from skills training, innovative technologies and cost saving methods. On a limited basis, the organization will from time to time, through correspondence, bring issues common to the towns, villages and cities of orange county to the attention of elected officials on the county, state, and federal level. The organization will not, directly or indirectly, support any political candidates.
Programs: The organization will develop educational programs and conferences to assist and inform its members in carrying out their responsibilities as elected municipal officials. These educational programs and conferences will feature speakers or presentations at dinner meetings at various restaurants or other venues around orange county on a monthly basis. Examples of topics for these programs include recycling, energy conservation, and emergency management. A representative from a government or private entity, at no charge, would speak to the organization about an issue, a new program, or opportunity for orange county municipalities. The organization members would be responsible to pay only the cost of a meal when attending these programs. Through monthly meetings and networking activities such as trips to meetings and conventions of the state-wide association of towns, villages, and cities, the organization will study and discuss various activities and actions that will have a beneficial effect on the public safety, health, and welfare of the member towns, villages, and cities. These monthly meetings and networking activities will also serve as vehicles for encouraging and stimulating cooperation among the member towns, villages, and cities for their mutual benefit. Through email exchanges or other communications such as presentations at meetings, the organization will alert and inform members of pending legislation, new programs, or other areas of concern that may impact their municipality either financially or through regulations. The organization will also communicate with policymakers regarding issues of importance to the organization's members and the municipalities they represent.
