Mission: Operation WEBS, Women Empowered Build Strong (OpWEBS) is developing a self-sustaining, Tiny Home on Wheels (THOW) Farming Community in Santa Barbara County where some of the basic building skills learned at our workshops will encourage and empower women veterans to break through the various layers of barriers preventing them from transitioning back to civilian life. The homes we build are by veterans and our community partners, for women veterans to reside in the community as part of a two - three year working farm program aimed at correcting their current, individual housing instability or homelessness crisis within this increasing population.
The strategic plan for OpWEBS is connect our sisters with various service resources, help to reestablish trust amongst one another and our community, and help forge supportive relationships within the community, before graduating them to a lifestyle of regained independence with confidence.
Results: We have completed our first tiny home on wheels (THOW) for our women veteran farming community. Since March 2019, we have provided five women veterans with housing stability and connected them to supportive veterans service providers.
Target demographics: Women veterans with their transition to civilian life after military service.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 8 women veterans out of homelessness.
Geographic areas served: Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California
