Mission: Operation Vets with Nets, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military and retired service personnel and disabled veterans through Cat and Striper fishing. Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for all veterans suffering from PTSD or related disabilities. We will accomplish this through an all-expense-paid fishing adventure for active-duty and veterans to get them into the outdoors with other veterans and those that want to give back to our vets. Our vets can learn that they are not alone in the mental or physical fight they all share. We have evidence that being in the outdoors and physical activities appears to help calm the mind of veterans, minimize nightmares, and allow for the healing process to take place. Studies have shown folks who have PTSD and have taken a fishing trip have had a decrease in PTS, depression, perceived stress, and functional impairment, and an increase in leisure satisfaction.
