Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education, Educational Services, Libraries

Mission: OLE's mission is to ensure learning for all - not only universal basic literacy and numeracy but also vital knowledge and skills concerning health, nutrition, work, community and the peaceful management of our differences.

Target demographics: We have our branches in many developing countries reaching out to thousands of beneficiaries. Our branches are in Kenya, Ghana, Nepal, Somalia, Peru and new program on-the-way for Syrian refugees in Jordan.

Programs: We provide open education resources to improve the quality of education for all children, especially those with the least resources in developing countries. With our partners on the field, we have provided access to open learning materials on different subjects through our program called Basic e-Learning Library (BeLL). BeLL is an innovative practice of using environmental-friendly, user-friendly and internet-free technology that reaches out to thousands of beneficiaries. BeLL contains free study materials and videos on different subjects for different educational levels. We train local people on how to operate the technology to make them self-reliant and use their skills to further develop the program.

I am an intern at OLE for the past 3 months, I am so impressed by the dedication of all the people who work at OLE to improve education in developing countries. OLE has now started a program at Zaatari camp, Jordan, to improve the education of Syrian refuge girls. I highly recommend people to invest their time and money on OLE to contribute for the improvement of quality education in developing countries.
