Nonprofit Overview
Mission: One by One is a faith-based ministry that mentors and educates new and expecting moms so their children thrive. We train mentors from the faith community using evidence-based curriculum to work one-on-one with expecting and new moms from pregnancy through at least the child's first birthday. Our mentors provide moms with friendship, support, unconditional love, and acceptance. Our mentors teach moms about child health and safety, developmental milestones, and activities that promote childhood development in order to equip moms to be their children's first and best teacher. Our goal is for children to grow in a safe, nurturing, loving environment and to be kindergarten-ready so that they have a better chance of graduating from high school, attending college, and earning a livable wage. Our mentors also share Bible verses with mentee moms so that moms will know how much God loves them. Additionally, when appropriate, we refer moms to other community agencies to provide assistance for physical and mental health needs (food, shelter, transportation, childcare, counseling, etc.)
Results: In 2021, we served 186 moms. We connected 67% of them with community resources to help with physical and mental needs. 70% of our mentee moms demonstrated growth in their emotional/spiritual journey. 93% of moms demonstrated progress in parenting skills, and 95% of our moms were up-to-date on health-care visits and had children developing optimally.

Geographic areas served: West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and Texas (more areas coming soon)
Programs: We walk alongside expecting and new moms with love, acceptance, and support to provide pre- and post-natal child safety, health, and wellness information; child development education, strategies, and activities; other lessons important to good parenting; life-skills lessons; and devotionals so that moms may know God's love for them. It is our vision that all moms accept God's love and parent well so their children thrive.
