Programs: Our partner in bangladesh constructed and installed 3,000 biosand filters in people's homes, giving 15,000 people clean water in southwestern bangladesh. In kenya, our implementing partner provided troubleshooting services on previously installed biosand filters, and conducted water quality testing. We continued to lay the groundwork for scaling both of these projects as well as participated in several events that educated people on the importance and use of biosand filters and the global drinking water crisis. Project shine bright was our hurricane relief initiative in puerto rico that we started shortly after hurricane maria. The goal was to give people living in rural municipalities access to solutions, such as water filters and solar lanterns, that would help them bridge the gap until utility services were restored and overall infrastructure was repaired. In 2017, we gave out nearly 300 water filters, over 500 solar lanterns and chargers, 1 solar powered refrigerator, and 7 pallets of donated snack food that brought much needed relief across several municipalities in puerto rico.
