I have been a member and served in multiple positions over the past 35 years. The ODA works tirelessly promoting high quality, ethical dental care to all Ohioans and nationally as well. It provides services for both dentists and patients to help preserve the compassionate, honest, and trusting relationship between the dentist and their patients. Over the years they have stressed the need for dental care for the economically and geographically underserved. They have promoted tuition reimbursment programs to encourage recent graduates to locate in areas needing more dentists. They have launched and promoted the Dental Options program now having provided millions of dollars of dental care at no or reduced fees to those in need for over 10 years. The list of public education programs like Give Kids a Smile day, providing free dental care to children, and Operation Tactic educating the public on the risks of tobacca use are too numerous to list. The ODA advocates for safe, high quality dentistry for every Ohioan.

Mission: The mission of the ohio dental association is to improve oral health and strengthen denistry in ohio by supporting, protecting, and advancing the interests of member dentists, providing resources to advance the dental profession, improving dental team skills, and increasing public and professional oral health knowledge.
Programs: The ohio dental association's annual session is an annual event that the oda hosts with the objective of providing quality continuing education courses to member dentists and dental team members and providing an exhibit hall with vendors who market products to dental practices so that dentists are familiar with the latest technologies available to run a successful and efficient dental practice. The annual session is also host to the annual meeting of the oda's governing body, the house of delegates.

The publication ensures that member dentists have access to important information that affects their dental practice, such as ohio rules and regulations, practice management and current events. The oda serves 72 percent of ohio's practicing dentists - more than 5,400 members. The oda today publication is distributed to all members each month.
