Causes: Energy Resources Conservation & Development, Environment
Mission: The Office for Resource Efficiency empowers the Gunnison Valley to lower utility costs, develop renewable energy sources, decrease carbon emissions, increase access to local foods and build a more sustainable, self-sufficient economy.
Results: -Conducted over 850+ home energy assessments in 2 years through Energy Smart Homes, nearly 10% of total households -Supported 270+ home energy improvement projects -Invested nearly $1,000,000 in the local economy through cost savings and job creation -Helped over 70 local businesses go green and save money -Together with Eagle and Pitkin Counties, reduced over 15 million pounds of CO2 through Energy Smart Homes -Facilitated an energy action planning process, including an Emissions Inventory, 4 jurisdictional Energy Action Plans, a common goal to reduce CO2e emissions 20% below 2005 levels by 2020 and an MOU between governments to work together to achieve goals -Connect 50+ farmers and nearly 400 customers through a year-round, online farmers market and delivery service
