I am with the East Liberty Chamber of Commerce and have been so impressed by how PTSA has worked so hard to reach out to the business community to help with mentoring programs for the students, including job training opportunities, bringing job panels to the school and much, much more. Ashish Badjatia, who is one of the parents, works tirelessly to bring top quality business partners and programs into the student's purview. They do a terrific job on many levels, including connecting with the community.
I was impressed with the results this hardworking group was able to achieve. What a win for the kids of Obama Academy!
For the past 4 years, I’ve spent a great many hours volunteering with the Obama Academy PTSA. I’ve seen the group’s effectiveness in getting things done for the teachers, administration and students at the school. The PTSA proudly organizes the International Festival, provides teacher grants, and supports student enrichment activities, including internships with local companies and learning how to search for and write grants. It’s been great to see MPowerStudio (our makerspace) launch with the generous support of Google.org, and the continued support from companies like IKEA, Dremel and 84 Lumber and countless individuals who have contributed their time and resources. With initial funding from a generous grant from The Grable Foundation, we will soon launch Purple Eagle Ventures, a venture fund for our high school students.
Great group of volunteers who work hard to obtain resources for the students and staff at Obama Academy.
The Obama Academy PTSA is really great!! The PTSA members go above and beyond what I ever expected. With their help, we have dramatically improved out science and technology education, and are making strides to close the curriculum gap in business and entrepreneurship education. We have opened a makerspace, improved our career outreach for students, and have started a venture fund for students to start businesses. 10/10 would recommend :)
Love it! Truly brings great opportunities to the school that benefit everyone. As a student, the PTSA has helped various clubs that I'm in fund raise with full support!!!!
I have worked with the Obama Academy PTSA and helped consult them for different programs to improve the school for the students. While working with them, all of the board members and parents have been very welcoming and engaged, taking initiative with their own ideas for programs. Many of the students from the community are also involved, reaching out to the board members as well as myself so that they can help plan out programs or find opportunities that can help improve the school. Overall, the Obama Academy PTSA is a great nonprofit with many involved parents and students who are constantly working on improving the school and providing greater experiences for the students.
The PTSA is awesome! They do so many things for our schools. These parents are always happy to help with whatever is needed. Not only do they do that, they do it fast! A few members of the PTSA even won a grant of $75,000 to build a makerspace in the school! This makerspace has everything you need to make professional quality things. They have laser engravers, 3D printers, embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, heat presses, silk screens, button makers and even more! They help around with supplies for teachers and help make the overall education of Obama Academy students reach new heights!
