Mission: Nyaya Health is a for-purpose organization that exists to realize the right to health by delivering transparent, data-driven health care for Nepal’s rural poor.
Results: Over the last six months, we have: 1. Conducted two needs assessments and several community meetings to establish the knowledge base required to establish our health program. 2. We have hired our first medical director, midwives, lab technician, and health assistant 3.. We have renovated our clinic building and established collaborations with government health agencies. 4. We have further solidified our revenue streams, consisting of support from foundations, individuals, and our biomedical editing company equityedit.org.
Target demographics: Citizens of Achham, Nepal, particularly mothers, children, migrant workers, and individuals suffering from chronic diseases. Achham is one of the poorest districts in Nepal and has been severely affected by war and poverty. It is home to 250,000 people who are served by only one doctor. The district suffers from some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in South Asia. The annual per capita income is $150, and many people migrate to India for work. Migration has fueled an HIV epidemic with 8-10% of returning migrants testing positive for HIV.
