Programs:
Nurture Nature Center's work combines art, science, education, and community. At the Center, located in downtown Easton, PA, NNC provides programming to the public, school groups, and community groups. Exhibits include NOAA's Science on a Sphere®, SOS Explorer®, an Interactive Watershed exhibit, and rotating art shows by regional artists. NNC hosts presentations and screenings on environmental issues of interest to the community, community workshops and artists' presentations, and facilitated forums and discussions on topics such as flooding, climate change, and food access.
NNC also regularly undertakes research projects focused on risk communication, particularly regarding flooding, innovations in science education with art infusion, and methods for community engagement. These efforts have been funded by NOAA, NASA, FEMA, PEMA, PA DEP, and other national, state, and regional partners.
NNC administers the Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley program (BFBL-GLV) which works to increase access to local foods and educate consumers in the Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks counties about the benefits of healthy, locally-grown foods. NNC's Urban Recycle Garden grows food for the local community, and workshops are offered there on how to grow food in urban areas.
