Unlike donations to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations listed in GivingMatters.com, donations to a section 501(c)(4) organization are only deductible on the donor’s federal income tax return if made to a volunteer fire department and only if the gift is made for exclusively public purposes.
To provide fire protection, emergency medical services and rescue to the citizens of Sumner County, Tennessee through our all volunteer department.
Programs: The Number One Fire Department provides Fire Suppression, Rescue, and Medical First Responder Services for the Number One Community in Sumner County, TN. Approximately 70% of the calls responded to are Medical First Responder/first aid where a county ambulance might arrive 10-20 minutes later. The remaining calls are for fire suppression and/or rescue. The department responds about 250 times per year, increasing approximately 15% every year making the Number One Fire Department a cornerstone in the community. The department now has 2 Class A Fire Engines that are within 10 years old, a cardiac (heart) monitor to assist the Paramedics, EMT's and First Responders with providing life saving care to the sick and injured, and Jaws of Life and related rescue material.
