Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Emergency Assistance, Human Services, Transportation Assistance
Mission: Lift urban portlands mission is to reduce hunger and improve the lives of low-income residents of northwest and downtown portland. We collect and distribute food, maintain gardens at two community sites, and sponsor educational and community building programs that encourage healthy life choices and promote community connections.
Programs: Food access programs including a pantry that is open 3 days each week that provides a 4-5 supply of food, home-delivered food boxes with a 4-5 day supply of food for residents unable to travel to a pantry, the food for kids program that provides additional food to low-income families with children, and a monthly harvest share distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables.
community building programs including a christmas dinner, held in partnership with congregation beth israel, that served nearly 500 meals. Also includes health and wellness offerings and volunteer services to assist low-income residents.
community outreach programs including community relations with businesses and congregations providing conduit to interact with lift urban portland through food drives and other events.
