Mission: Nwhrn works with healthcare organizations, government agencies and community partners in the puget sound region to prepare for, respond to and recover from health emergencies as a collaborative healthcare network.
Programs: Planning & committees: nwhrn facilitates regional planning with healthcare and other emergency response organizations to establish relationships, leverage expertise, and develop tools and plans. Nwhrn has developed numerous response plans and tools to help ready all types of healthcare facilities for their next emergency. In addition, nwhrn brings healthcare leaders together to build collective preparedness and response capabilities through a variety of critical advisory committees and workgroups. Examples include the hospital emergency preparedness committee, disaster clinical advisory committee, and long-term care emergency preparedness comittee.
training & exercises: nwhrn develops innovative, year-round training and exercise opportunities tailored to the unique needs of washington state's healthcare community. Our partners, including the leading medical institutions in our region, contribute the latest knowledge to help ensure each training is relevant to the needs of our region's healthcare organizations. Nwhrn's exercises offer our healthcare partners the opportunity to practice, test and course-correct their disaster-response services using real-life scenarios.
emergency response: nwhrn provides 24/7 support through our duty officer, and active our healthcare emergency coordination center (hcesc) to provide a critical link among healthcare facilities, public health departments and government partners.
general & watrac: nwhrn supports its members and partners by developing collaborative relationships, plans and tools necessary for effective coordinated responses to healthcare emergencies. Nwhrn is a regional administrator of the watrac system, an electronic platform enabling healthcare facilities to enter bed availability, share information about an incident and track patients from a mass casualty incident in a single database. Nwhrn has developed watrac training videos that allow for the continuity of training and familiarity with the system, as well as providing just-in-time training during an incident.
