The Northshore School's Foundation has been an extraordinary help during the difficult times of COVID. It provided for families who needed help with a range of areas to ensure educational equity and that every child could achieve their best. This included bringing water to graduation, helping kids and teachers who needed additional items during COVID, helping families in need who had lost employment, and just encouraging all kids in the district. They have an opportunity fund that helped economically disadvantage kids have equal access to sports, music, and other extra-curricular activities across the state that can put a burden on parents. We were personally able to participate in the backpacks for kids which provides supplies to students. It was an extraordinary effort. I'm so grateful for this foundation.
I have seen the work this organization does first hand and it is heartwarming to see so much good done for the children in our community. It's an honor to be able to help contribute to their amazing efforts.
Northshore Schools Foundation has funded multiple grants for my schools over the years. The area that they have made significant impact is on inclusion for all. My schools have benefitted from funding for flexible seating and from Universal Design for Learning tools ( like tools for focus, calming center supplies, and 'show what you know options'). Our NSF has also made a difficult time a little easier with Care Team funding that came online during the global pandemic. Through this we've been able to directly help families and staff members with financial help. I'm proud to be both a donor and a recipient of NSF grants! You are awesome!!
I have over the last 20 plus years supported a variety of civic org's . I can say that the Northshore Schools Foundation is laser focused on the success of all the students with a whatever it takes attitude including supporting the teachers in that effort. I have witnessed first hand the excitement of the students benefiting from their programs .
As a parent in this district for 16 years, I've been so impressed with this organization. Each year NSF hosts a giant back-to-school fair where free supplies, books, and resources are provided. This year they quickly expanded it to be available to every student. The organization, despite it's established framework, remains nimble. They embraced a new opportunity last year to support a student-led charity to provide hygiene products to teens in need. They use their digital resources to provide fundraising mechanics to help students and staff raise needed funds for specific projects as they arise. By combining established processes and new ideas they remain relevant and provide much needed resources across a large school district spanning two counties.
I've been fortunate to see the classroom grants I help review become a reality in the classrooms. It's rewarding to see teachers adding to their diversity libraries, creating math enrichment opportunities, enhancing classroom environments and more. The classroom grants help teachers keep their well-earned money in their pockets.
I love the heart behind this organization - helping students and families throughout the Northshore School District Community. The Foundation has funded many grants that have directly benefitted my own students. This is a tremendous resource for our teachers, staff and students.
The Northshore Schools Foundation has helped relieve some of the new financial stress that was brought on by the COVID pandemic. The CARE Teams at our schools have been able to respond to student/family needs quickly and w/o complicated "qualifications" that create barriers to the help that families need.
Thank you for stepping up and making lives better for all in the Northshore community. We appreciate the support from our community through the foundation.
I have volunteered with this Foundation for several years now. I support this organization because its values align with my own. We support kids so they can do better in school. We do this through providing food to families who need it, providing books while libraries are closed, supporting teacher grants, advocating for music in schools and many other programs. Our programs are aimed at giving students what they need to experience success in school. This is a great organization with a dynamic leader. I have transitioned from a volunteer to a Board member because I believe in the mission of the Foundation.
This agency supports the students in our school district in a multitude of ways. I especially am pleased with the donations made to support music and the arts in our curriculum as well as the support for transporting homeless children to their school- that allows for one less disruption in their lives. The support through grants for science is also fantastic. I also appreciate the Foundation's commitment to our special education students. The Executive Director is a real dynamo. She is a visionary who really understands how to garner community support.
Northshore Schools Foundation fills a vital role, serving as the connection among community members who care about and want to support public education, teachers who want to innovate and leverage resources, and of course the students who work so hard to succeed in school and in life. Foundation donors fund such diverse needs – support for homeless students, teacher training, pilot programs, classroom enrichment, student workshops, diverse libraries, and so much more. They are strategic and nimble, and have been an especially important partner to the district and to families since the pandemic began.
The Northshore Schools Foundation is a great organization. The foundation does an amazing job bringing people and resources together to develop and fund programs, supporting the Northshore School District community. Recently the foundation was able to quickly pivot and support the district and families during the challenging time of Covid. It has been great to be a part of this foundation as a board member and to continue the great work with a great team!
I have spent this summer delivering bags of reading book to homes of Northshore students. I am always enthusiastically met at the door by smiling kids. Makes me feel great to be part of this organization.
As part of the Northshore Schools Foundation family, I am able to support our school district and serve our students and families. The Foundation plays a key role in
- Enhancing & Inspiring Learning so our students' dreams can become a reality
- Removing Barriers so nothing can get in the way between our students and their dreams, and
- Building Skills for Life so learning is relevant and linked to their futures.
I have been so impressed by the quick response the Northshore Schools Foundation has when there is a need in our school community. During the beginning of Covid The foundation mobilized to help the communities in need by providing cash for groceries, school supplies for students and acres as a resource to connect families to solutions that could help them through the crisis.
On an almost daily basis I see the outcomes of the various programs this foundation sponsors. From giving books to "Backpacks for Kids", it is a fantastic partner in our community.
I have been a board member for 3 years with the Foundation. There are so many amazing folks in our community working to help our student and teachers in our school district. It has been an honor to support and work with the members on this board and I look forward to many more years of helping to create a community that really focuses on the importance of connections and relationships.
I have been a corporate and personal donor for seven years. I have greatly enjoyed the interactions with the staff and volunteering with them in events. My wife is a teacher in the Northshore School district and has benefited from a couple of small grants. She has also shared NSF's info with her colleagues who have been able to obtain grants for student projects they would not have been able to do with this non-profit's aid.
The Northshore Schools Foundation has been one of the best non-profits I have ever interacted with. This non-profit has opened doors for many of the students it supports as well as provided our underfunded school systems with whatever they need to make sure the kids in this district to get the best education possible.
The Northshore Schools Foundation puts the principles of Servant Leadership into practice. I am a proud supporter and volunteer with this organization.
“If your actions inspire people to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” - John Quincy Adams
Thanks to the Northshore Schools Foundation for all they do for our community. When I was a brand-new teacher they funded a classroom library filled with over $1000 of diverse books sorted by reading level. So many students have benefitted from that library! They’ve filled other grants along the way, including Little Bits for STEM at our Title 1 school. They have worked so diligently through the current pandemic to provide books, school supplies, and food to families in need. NSF wraps around our community and we are so grateful to them!
Northshore Schools Foundation provided a grant to our school to help us build a library of diverse books for students to read in book clubs and teachers to use as read-aloud. As part of our school's mission and our district's strategic plan, we wanted to have a greater selection of books available for students on a variety of topics by diverse authors. It was a passion project to be able to provide books for our students so that they could see themselves represented on the pages of books and in the lives of the characters. The students were so excited to get new books! They loved reading and discussing the books!
Thank you NSDF
Northshore Schools Foundation fully funded a grant to purchase sensory equipment for our three Social/Emotional classrooms. This equipment was recommended by our school occupational therapist to support sensory-seeking students better self regulate. All of our students used the equipment regularly, if not daily. Many students improved both behaviorally and academically. Our program will benefit for years to come. We are so grateful!
How to make an impact on struggling learners? Take them OUT of the typical classroom where they sit all day and get them into the real world. "No Desks Allowed!" is a grant funded by the Northshore Schools Foundation and continues to be our lifeline for getting kids up and moving in the real world. Imagine talking to a student about glaciers, geologic formations, volcanoes, etc. and then going to Mt. St. Helens and Mr. Rainier. Teaching the history of Native Americans in the Seattle comes alive when you can take groups of students to the lower Duwamish river or Nisqually delta and witness both the beauty and destruction of these valuable resources. We also visit places like the Skagit River, Museum of History & Industry, Brightwater, Downtown Seattle, Boeing, training centers, and the list goes on. Amazing experiences for kids! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I love walking through the hallway at Woodmoor Elementary and seeing signs that show specific projects that the Northshore Schools Foundations has funded. Without this incredible non-profit, those programs or projects would have been possible. It's incredible to see donations put into action in my own community, making an impact on my own children.
The picture says it all! Their work warms my heart and makes me smile.
Our new sensory classrooms received a grant to purchase INDIVIDUALIZED rewards and therapeutic devices for the students on IEPS in 4 classrooms! :)
I received a grant for my classroom from the Northshore Schools Foundation and have seen student success. The grant I received funded the purchase of several high-quality picture books for use as mentor texts with 6th grade students. In using these books with my students this year, I was able to provide equitable access across academic levels in order to facilitate conversations and increase writing skills. This foundation is valuable to the Northshore Community and as educators, we are lucky to have their support in our communities.
I teach at a very small "Alternative" high school -- a place for the round pegs of the world that the system tries to place into square holes. The Secondary Academy for Success provides a safe place for kids to be themselves, while providing them high quality instruction and the support so many desperately need. A huge part of our success is the ability to get our kids up and out of their desks and into the real world. "No Desks Allowed", the grant Northshore Schools Foundation (NSF) funded, allows us to take kids to amazing places around the Puget Sound. It's fine to learn about volcanoes in the class or by watching videos, but if you want learning to come alive, go visit Mt. St. Helens! That's just the start. We visit the lower Duwamish River, Museum of History & Industry, Mt. Rainier, Skagit River, Nisqually Delta, and many more.
Northshore Schools Foundation was super easy to work with by providing excellent on-line help as well as one-to-one phone support during the application process. They even provide helpful workshops for prospective grant writers! NSF is a critical part of our incredible success saving kids from dropping out of school and I can't thank them enough. Two thumbs WAY up!!!
Students first! NSF puts our students first, I am so honored to have witnesses some of the work of NSF makes you proud to have donated. Integrity, compassion, dedication are the 1st three word that come to mind when thinking of NSF and the people behind the name making great things happen!
Everything about this organization screams "we support the kids, teachers and community in the Northshore School District." Having recently participated in their 2016 Career Day at Timbercrest Junior High - I was able to witness first hand the dedication and drive this organization has at building community partnerships that benefit the young students of tomorrow's future. Over 75 local individuals came together on this day to sit on small group panels to share their career paths and answer questions poised by 8th and 9th graders from Leota and Timbercrest. To see the sparkle in their eyes as they learn about life beyond school and all the possibilities that await them was amazing. It doesn't get any better than this!
Northshore Schools Foundation is the Best. It is ethical, industrious, generous and kind. It supports public education by awarding funding to help teachers in the classroom develop effective projects that engage the minds of their students. The leadership and the Board of Directors are dedicated individuals who give much of their time to this effort, and they are very visible in the community. Please support Northshore Schools Foundation!
NSF is a "little engine that could!" This powerhouse nonprofit brings the community together, gets a wide range of folks involved, and effects change in profound ways year after year. Thank you NSF!
Northshore Schools Foundation has blossomed into a marvelous, nearly miraculous, source for teachers at every level within our District. They have allowed instructors to extend their curriculums beyond the immediate classroom and into projects that have had long term impacts on their students and the community. The leaders of the Foundation do an amazing job of rallying the constituentcy behind our teachers and showcasing the results.
The Northshore Schools Foundation does an exemplary job of supporting the goals of the district. Students and Teachers are valued and feel empowered to go above and beyond the standards. This atmosphere affords amazing opportunities for students of the Northshore School District. The dollars donated to this non-profit are very well placed and greatly appreciated.
I have never been more impressed with a non profit as I am with this one. if there is ever a non-profit to donate your time and money to, it's the Northshore Schools Foundation. If you have ever attended their luncheon or an event or seen the impact that this organization makes with the kids in the entire community...then you are really missing out. I feel like this is a group of people who truly believe in public education and that you cannot treat Education like a business , as it goes much deeper than that and that they impact so many kids and staff in such a positive way. You really feel like the care as much about your kids as you do. what more could I ask!
My student's teacher won a grant last year to help that will help my child and other learning -disabled access technology to increase their independence in and out of the classroom. Thanks, NSF!
This organization does amazing things for kids and our school community.
I have been volunteering for the NSF for the last two years and have loved every minute! It's well run, organized, and most importantly gives so much back to the kids of the Northshore School District.
I have seen so many kid's lives impacted by the NSF's work and hope that people will continue to support such a vital organization!
I have supported the foundation for years. They are All In for the students and staff of the Northshore School District.
I've been a contributor to the Foundation for several years--I have a tight budget & watch where my money goes closely. This organization puts my money to good use--they are incredibly mindful of how they invest, making sure that programs supported are in alignment with school board priorities & make a meaningful impact for our students. The Foundation does amazing work -- helping ensure all our kids are prepared for a future filled with positive choices for college &/or careers following high school.
The Northshore Schools Foundation is a fabulous organization that mobilizes community resources to make a meaningful impact on students and public education. The Foundation is currently impacting students 7-9 times throughout their school career and that impact is growing exponentially. "In 2001 it provided $100 for library books for every school in the district. In 2013-2014 it provided more than 4,600 books for students. In the past couple of years, the Foundation has provided great new items like hospital beds for the Health Services Skilled Nursing program at Woodinville High, provided DNA replication machines (PCR) for Bio-Medical Sciences courses and since inception has Supported Teacher Excellence through National Board Teacher Certification impacting more than 350,000 students. Watch this space!
I joined the Board of Northshore Schools Foundation after learning about the great impact the organization makes across the entire school district. The amount of children this foundation has a positive impact on is large and the impact is broad, all ages, all learning levels, and even invests in teachers. I couldn't be more proud to be part of this great non-profit. - Teri F.
I have been a Board Member for the past year and this non-profit inspires me daily to get more involved for our kids and their public education. I have 3 kids that have directly benefited from the grants given to their school and their teachers. I strongly believe in their funding priorities which are Literacy & Arts, S.T.E.M., Teacher Excellence, Advanced & Disadvantaged Learners, and Health & Enrichment. When you give to this foundation you can not help feel good about where your money is going and how it is making an impact. The Executive Director is amazing and inspires everyone around her to be involved and give more so we can impact over 20,000 kids at 32 schools. So don't hesitate to get involved with this foundation whether its your time or a donation, the reward is yours to give!:)
