As a member of the Northshore School District community, I appreciate the Northshore Schools Foundation funding materials that enhance the classroom and funding for families to get help in times of hardship. That's just what the Foundation does. Every child truly matters in the Northshore School District and the Foundation helps to make sure that all kids have what they need to learn and thrive.

There are no words to describe the positive impact that the Northshore Schools Foundation has helped me in helping our BHS families in need. From providing gift cards, and coats, backpacks and school supplies, no matter what the call, they are always there to help. I was able to start fund raising for the Bothell HS pantry through an educational site. The Foundation has been behind me the whole way. They believe in me and what I was trying to achieve, and would go above and beyond in helping in any way. I was able to apply for a grant through the Foundation in June and was notified a few weeks later that it was accepted. This enabled me to finish my pantry by providing extra storage bins, purchasing another smaller shed to store extra food in, and providing inside and outside lighting. At last, the pantry is up and running with families already shopping for food, cleaning supplies and toiletries that they need. This inspiration to have this food pantry for our families was made possible by others generosity, but it could not have been completed without the Foundation. I look forward to continued partnership and could not thank the Northshore School Foundation enough for all they have done for our campus and most importantly, for me! wendy wands

I am so happy I am able to support this great organization. Their mission and the work they do really resonates with me. I love that they helped families in crisis during the worst of COVID. Donating cool backpacks and school supplies so every kid has what they need to be successful in school makes me proud to support them. And the fact that they collect donated musical instruments and refurbish them for budding musicians thrills my old band-mom heart.

I have volunteered with this Foundation for several years now. I support this organization because its values align with my own. We support kids so they can do better in school. We do this through providing food to families who need it, providing books while libraries are closed, supporting teacher grants, advocating for music in schools and many other programs. Our programs are aimed at giving students what they need to experience success in school. This is a great organization with a dynamic leader. I have transitioned from a volunteer to a Board member because I believe in the mission of the Foundation.

As a parent of the Northshore School District, I have been impressed with the support that the Northshore Schools Foundation gives to the students, teachers and community. They provide backpacks and school supplies for students that need support, they have provided classroom grants so that teachers have additional resources to teach. They also engage the community to be a part of the foundation. I started as a parent and now am part of the Foundation Board and the Finance Committee.

The Northshore School's Foundation has been an extraordinary help during the difficult times of COVID. It provided for families who needed help with a range of areas to ensure educational equity and that every child could achieve their best. This included bringing water to graduation, helping kids and teachers who needed additional items during COVID, helping families in need who had lost employment, and just encouraging all kids in the district. They have an opportunity fund that helped economically disadvantage kids have equal access to sports, music, and other extra-curricular activities across the state that can put a burden on parents. We were personally able to participate in the backpacks for kids which provides supplies to students. It was an extraordinary effort. I'm so grateful for this foundation.

Northshore Schools Foundation has funded multiple grants for my schools over the years. The area that they have made significant impact is on inclusion for all. My schools have benefitted from funding for flexible seating and from Universal Design for Learning tools ( like tools for focus, calming center supplies, and 'show what you know options'). Our NSF has also made a difficult time a little easier with Care Team funding that came online during the global pandemic. Through this we've been able to directly help families and staff members with financial help. I'm proud to be both a donor and a recipient of NSF grants! You are awesome!!

As a parent in this district for 16 years, I've been so impressed with this organization. Each year NSF hosts a giant back-to-school fair where free supplies, books, and resources are provided. This year they quickly expanded it to be available to every student. The organization, despite it's established framework, remains nimble. They embraced a new opportunity last year to support a student-led charity to provide hygiene products to teens in need. They use their digital resources to provide fundraising mechanics to help students and staff raise needed funds for specific projects as they arise. By combining established processes and new ideas they remain relevant and provide much needed resources across a large school district spanning two counties.

The Northshore Schools Foundation has helped relieve some of the new financial stress that was brought on by the COVID pandemic. The CARE Teams at our schools have been able to respond to student/family needs quickly and w/o complicated "qualifications" that create barriers to the help that families need.

Thank you for stepping up and making lives better for all in the Northshore community. We appreciate the support from our community through the foundation.

Northshore Schools Foundation fills a vital role, serving as the connection among community members who care about and want to support public education, teachers who want to innovate and leverage resources, and of course the students who work so hard to succeed in school and in life. Foundation donors fund such diverse needs – support for homeless students, teacher training, pilot programs, classroom enrichment, student workshops, diverse libraries, and so much more. They are strategic and nimble, and have been an especially important partner to the district and to families since the pandemic began.

Thanks to the Northshore Schools Foundation for all they do for our community. When I was a brand-new teacher they funded a classroom library filled with over $1000 of diverse books sorted by reading level. So many students have benefitted from that library! They’ve filled other grants along the way, including Little Bits for STEM at our Title 1 school. They have worked so diligently through the current pandemic to provide books, school supplies, and food to families in need. NSF wraps around our community and we are so grateful to them!

Northshore Schools Foundation provided a grant to our school to help us build a library of diverse books for students to read in book clubs and teachers to use as read-aloud. As part of our school's mission and our district's strategic plan, we wanted to have a greater selection of books available for students on a variety of topics by diverse authors. It was a passion project to be able to provide books for our students so that they could see themselves represented on the pages of books and in the lives of the characters. The students were so excited to get new books! They loved reading and discussing the books!

How to make an impact on struggling learners? Take them OUT of the typical classroom where they sit all day and get them into the real world. "No Desks Allowed!" is a grant funded by the Northshore Schools Foundation and continues to be our lifeline for getting kids up and moving in the real world. Imagine talking to a student about glaciers, geologic formations, volcanoes, etc. and then going to Mt. St. Helens and Mr. Rainier. Teaching the history of Native Americans in the Seattle comes alive when you can take groups of students to the lower Duwamish river or Nisqually delta and witness both the beauty and destruction of these valuable resources. We also visit places like the Skagit River, Museum of History & Industry, Brightwater, Downtown Seattle, Boeing, training centers, and the list goes on. Amazing experiences for kids! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

In using these books with my students this year, I was able to provide equitable access across academic levels in order to facilitate conversations and increase writing skills. I teach at a very small "Alternative" high school -- a place for the round pegs of the world that the system tries to place into square holes. The Secondary Academy for Success provides a safe place for kids to be themselves, while providing them high quality instruction and the support so many desperately need. A huge part of our success is the ability to get our kids up and out of their desks and into the real world. "No Desks Allowed", the grant Northshore Schools Foundation (NSF) funded, allows us to take kids to amazing places around the Puget Sound. It's fine to learn about volcanoes in the class or by watching videos, but if you want learning to come alive, go visit Mt. St. Helens! That's just the start. We visit the lower Duwamish River, Museum of History & Industry, Mt. Rainier, Skagit River, Nisqually Delta, and many more.

Northshore Schools Foundation was super easy to work with by providing excellent on-line help as well as one-to-one phone support during the application process. They even provide helpful workshops for prospective grant writers! NSF is a critical part of our incredible success saving kids from dropping out of school and I can't thank them enough. Two thumbs WAY up!!!

Having recently participated in their 2016 Career Day at Timbercrest Junior High - I was able to witness first hand the dedication and drive this organization has at building community partnerships that benefit the young students of tomorrow's future. Over 75 local individuals came together on this day to sit on small group panels to share their career paths and answer questions poised by 8th and 9th graders from Leota and Timbercrest. To see the sparkle in their eyes as they learn about life beyond school and all the possibilities that await them was amazing. It doesn't get any better than this!

The Northshore Schools Foundation is a fabulous organization that mobilizes community resources to make a meaningful impact on students and public education. The Foundation is currently impacting students 7-9 times throughout their school career and that impact is growing exponentially. "In 2001 it provided $100 for library books for every school in the district. In 2013-2014 it provided more than 4,600 books for students. In the past couple of years, the Foundation has provided great new items like hospital beds for the Health Services Skilled Nursing program at Woodinville High, provided DNA replication machines (PCR) for Bio-Medical Sciences courses and since inception has Supported Teacher Excellence through National Board Teacher Certification impacting more than 350,000 students.
