Mission: The research foundation is organized for educational purposes, to support northern kentucky university's efforts to promote the development, implementation and coordination (continued in schedule o)
Programs: Through state and federal funding for instructional purposes, funds were used in the areas of traineeship in special education, enhancing nursing education programs, writing and reading projects for students, improving educational quality through professional development, bridging the gap in library education, transition to teaching programs, mathematics projects and the center for environmental education. Arra grants funded workforce development programs and mathematics education.
public service grants providing funding in a number of programs including: low income taxpayer clinics, student philanthropy projects, legal service to the poor, small business development center, minority student college preparation, river water quality monitoring, law enforcement protection, mental health court services, international business outreach, upward bound, and various health initiatives for the public.
research funding, including nsf, nih, niosh and nasa, was dedicated to microbial research in cave environments, epscor programs, fiber optics, water quality, neurotoxicy, lead exposure, biofilm formation, cosmic rays, white nose syndrome in bats, acquisition of a time-resolved flurescence instrument for chemistry research and education. Arra grants funded research in supramolecular photophysics and the acquisition of a gas chromatograph for use in scientific research.
