Mission: The neacac opened in 2009 and has dramatically increased services and children served each year since. The neacac is a child--friendly, relaxed environment for a child to tell his/her story of abuse to a highly trained, child focused forensic interviewer while being video recorded to reduce the need for multiple strangers to retraumatize the child through repeated questioning. The neacac also provides advocacy for each child and offers on onsite specialized medical exam for every child with an allegation of sexual abuse victimization. Every child also receives a referral to a trauma focused trained mental health therapist and every case is reviewed and receives a coordinated response by the multidisciplinary team consisting of law enforcement, dcfs, cacd, neacac, mental health, medical professionals and others involved with the case.
