Mission: The mission of the Nonprofit Association of Oregon is to strengthen the collective voice, leadership, and capacity of nonprofits to enrich the lives of all Oregonians.
NAO’s vision is that Oregon’s nonprofits are visible and valued as essential contributors to our society.
Target demographics: Strengthen the collective voice, leadership, and capacity of nonprofits to enrich the lives of all Oregonians.
Geographic areas served: The state of Oregon providing services to all nonprofits.
Programs:
Being the statewide membership organization providing a unique vehicle for nonprofit sector expression and support. At NAO, we believe the nonprofit sector strengthens the fabric of our democracy and our communities. Nonprofits create many public benefits such as opportunities to participate in civic affairs, enrich cultural life, provide needed services, generate significant economic impact, address inequities, and create innovative solutions to community issues. By representing and supporting charitable nonprofits of all sizes and geographic locations across Oregon, we strive to convene, build capacity, promote best practices and be a thought leader to help nonprofits build a thriving and vital Oregon.
Our services include:
- ADVOCACY
We build the capacity of the nonprofit sector in Oregon to monitor and take action on public policies that affect the sector as a whole. Our Public Policy Committee directs our work in this area, in consultation with our membership. In addition to engaging in legislative and electoral activities, we believe that promoting the good works of nonprofits through outreach to the media and opinion leaders is also an important advocacy function.
- TRAINING
We offer a variety of affordable and practical educational programs that provide important and timely information to help you more effectively manage your organization. Opportunities include: workshops, professional development networks, and webinars throughout the state.
- CONSULTING
w provide consulting services to nonprofits of all sizes and in all stages of development—from start-ups to established organizations to those undergoing transitions. As a leader in nonprofit capacity building in Oregon and beyond, our consulting team can provide your organization with specialized consulting that will help you meet your goals and navigate organizational change.
- RESOURCES/HELPLINE
The Nonprofit Helpline is a sponsored resource made available to Oregon Nonprofits. The Helpline can answer basic questions and give resource referrals pertaining to Oregon nonprofits. Please note we cannot answer legal questions, but are happy to provide legal referrals.
