Causes: Religion, Religious Printing & Publishing
Mission: The mission of the organization is to serve churches and the world by providing a refuge for those broken by the church, supplying theological resources to strengthen congregations, and modeling ways of engaging the culture in a manner that is thoughtful, courageous, and christ-centered.
Programs: New reformation publications (nrp)--the publishing arm of 1517 the legacy project--publishes books as approved by the editorial committee (president, executive director, board treasurer) and develops the current back catalog acquired content. Nrp also seeks licensing opportunities to further develop content for 1517. Nrp works with the thinking fellowship to encourage publication by fellowship members, and continue to develop systems to improve the publishing process.
thinking fellowship: the thinking fellowship is a gathering of historians, theologians, pastors, and philosophers that help to shape the american theological climate by providing independent research and engaging academically on theological issues. Members provide expert background, research and data, as well as recommendations for how 1517 might better influence the current theological climate, public preaching, and apologetic tactics. The thinking fellowship recruits highly educated individuals who are experts in their field and can write reports, organize events, give lectures and provide testimony to churches and theological organizations.
speakers bureau: the speakers' bureau holds a database of members of the thinking fellowship to engage them in speaking events. The speaker bureau coordinator initiates the introduction of speaker and client and supports both parties from the primary stages of making contact throughout the booking and logistics process. Clients requiring speakers from the thinking fellowship are entities such as churches, other charities, and educational institutions. The speakers' bureau helps client and speaker negotiate the speaking fee, payment awarded to an individual for speaking at a public event. This fee is usually set by 1517 the legacy project. Logistics are also dealt with by the speakers' bureau, like fees, transport, accommodation and timing, or communication between speaker and client.
