There are not enough kind words for NR. I found them after a long search for a rat terrier, followed on Facebook and found my Polly who is a perfect fit to our family and bff to our older RT. For a first time adopter I was impressed with the entire process, detailed ap, calls, interviews, house visit and the moment she was put into my arms, priceless. Over the last few years I've handmade items to donate to their retail store, on line auction and jamboree to help raise money to rescue more of this beautiful breed. The volunteers and fosters go above and beyond to find perfect matches for dogs and families, they all have hearts of gold.
Very professional well run organization. They have great foster homes and the adoption process is very detailed as they want ensure the best homes for their rescued Ratties.
I have a friend who has just been blessed with a new dog through the efforts of New Rattitude. They did such a great job of matching pet to person I came to appreciate the tremendous amount of effort put into finding the "right" permanent home for each of their beloved animals. That friend has since become a volunteer herself to help others find the perfect permanent home for each homeless animal.
I love volunteering with these great people and with us having so many permanent adoptions for all these adorable dogs it makes one feel great.
I adopted a dog from New Rattitude and the experience was SO positive, I signed up to volunteer. This group really cares about the dogs they rescue and everyone goes the extra mile to make sure these thrown-away dogs find loving, safe, "fur-ever" homes. They rock!!
I adopted a wonderful dog from this group. They are the most caring dog rescue I have ever encountered. All of he people that I interacted with had all of the dos' best interest at heart. Everyone wanted to make sure this dog had the perfect home for him.
I am the Treasurer for this fine organization. One of the many things I admire about New Rattitude is that nearly all the funds raised through adoption fees, donations, and fundraising events go back to the care of the dogs and to further New Rattitude's mission to rescue and find new adoptive homes for abandoned, abused, neglected, sick, or unwanted rat terriers. Last year, less than 2% of the budget was spent on administrative costs! I am proud that we can assure our supporters that when they donate to New Rattitude, the funds don't pay a professional fundraiser or a CEO's salary -- we are a group of caring and committed volunteers who freely give our time and talents to make an impact on the lives of the breed we care so much about.
As a volunteer, I follow up with New Rattitude adopters to make sure things are going well with their New Rattitude doggies. While most are doing great, those who have an issue are provided with a New Rattitude volunteer to help them through the transition. Isn't that great! New Rattitude is 100% supportive of their adopters in every way from the beginning until however long they are needed. I am a foster parent as well and can only praise New Rattitude for their support of their foster parents and their dedication to rescuing Rat Terries in need.
New Rattitude is a great rescue. We have adopted 3 dogs from them, and have been thrilled with the ease and caring we received throughout the process. This rescue works very hard to place the right dog with the right family. We could not be happier! Our family became foster parents for New Rattitude many years ago. We have alSo worked with the adoption process, and transporting dogs.
I am proud to have been a volunteer of New Rattitude since it's formation.
The main goal of the group is to rescue Rat Terriers, full and mixed breed, that have been abandoned and in danger of being euthanized in high kill shelters, and to diligently search for the most qualified, safe, and loving adoptive homes, where the dogs will be treated with respect and cared for with love.
..The fostered dogs are cared for in dog experienced and fully screened foster homes until they are ready to be adopted. They are provided the most excellent vet care, are supported physically and emotionally by a volunteer group that is located in all corners of this US.
N R is known for it's members being committed, compassionate, experienced in all aspects of dog care, having elected teams of leaders that assure that the group is led in a most excellent manner in administrative, financial, philosophy, and mission. The leaders are trusted by all to take NR and it's foster Rat T's to the highest level of rescue success, not so much judged by numbers of dogs placed, but also by the numbers of lives changed, and bright futures possible....both for the dogs And for the volunteers, and surely for the adoptive families.
If I searched everywhere, I could not find a dog rescue group that would touch my heart and soul like New Rattitude and it's volunteers have. Let us all keep holding hands together for the good purpose of saving and changing lives.
I first encountered New Rattitude when I found a dog in their care that I wished to adopt. From the first step until today I have been impressed with this organization. I appreciate their careful process of placing a dog in its forever home. Not only is the dog placed in a perfect home for it, support is given to the adopters to adjust and provide for the new pet. I volunteer in adoptions, transport and web updates. Every volunteer job is well defined and thorough training is provided. This is a group that knows how to use resources efficiently and effectively! The financial reports, dog status reports and board meetings are published for all to review. Transparency and integrity is highly valued. The all-volunteer based rescue means that money will be used for the dog's care. And above all this group knows it's mission--to rescue and provide care for rat terriers and rat terrier mixes for the rest of their lives.
I started out as a donor for New Rattitude, now I am also a volunteer. NR is the first charity I have ever donated a considerable amount of money to, for my financial bracket that is. I was blown away that every person associated with the Org is a volunteer and that 100% of the pet fees and donations go to rescuing and also giving dogs who need vet care the care they need. With dogs being fostered in private loving homes means that their temperament can be assessed and also challenges can be worked on by foster parents so that the dogs can then in turn be adopted into homes that are truly a good fit for the dog. I love the way we "tuders" work together with a goal of making sure we use the donations NR receives honestly and that we stretch every dollar as far as we can to insure that we can save and find lasting forever homes for abandoned, abused, and or neglected Rat Terriers in need.
This was my first interaction with any pet adoption organization and I was more than impressed. The passion and integrity of everyone along the way was evident. The communication was excellent and we felt a part of the process at every step. When we had questions, they were answered. It really was hard to believe that every single person was a volunteer because they worked so hard for the good of the dog. Once we brought our Gracie (Cokie) home, we knew we were not abandoned and had several resources at our disposal should we need them. Gracie has given more to us than we could ever imagine and we may not have known that joy had New Rattitudes not been doing the wonderful work that they do.

We have so much admiration for the volunteers at New Rattitude and the wonderful job they do. They don't just rescue rat terriers, they enrich the lives of those of us who adopt as well. The love and care they put into screening, placement and follow up is unmatched. The folks at New Rattitude stay involved and in contact through newsletters, group chats and personal email. They are always there to answer questions and offer guidance on anything and everything you need to know to adjust, train and keep your rattie happy and healthy. New Rattitude is a top notch rescue and adoption group - we feel so lucky to have found them and become part of the family through our two adoptions. We recommend New Rattitude to everyone looking for a smaller breed dog to love!
As a founding member of New Rattitude, I can pledge that NR is dedicated to compassion, collaboration, equity, and straightforwardness, not only to our members but also to our adoption applicants, supporters, donors, and other volunteers. Our Board of Directors stays in daily contact to address pertinent issues and ensure needs are being responsibly met.
I cannot give enough praise to the volunteers and organizers of New Rattitude. Their compassion and care concerning Rat Terriers permeates through all of their actions. They sincerely care and fight for all Rat Terriers and their owners--whether helping with behavioral advice, training issues, rehoming, or physical healthcare-- New Rattitude is a community of loving individuals serving this population Although I have not been able to volunteer with the organization due to a medical emergency, I plan to reconnect with the group when I get better. However, by sitting on the sidelines I have observed countless dogs rescued and united with dedicated and loving homes. They are truly an exceptional group of people.

I am so fortunate to have adopted from this group. I was so impressed with their policies and how organized they are, that I decided to volunteer as well. I am forever grateful to them for bring my rat terrier, Remy, into my life. They are completely financially transparent and you can see that every penny brought in, goes right into pulling and saving my dogs.

This is the most caring rescue group I've ever volunteered with. From the beginning - assessing and pulling a dog in the shelter - to getting that rescued dog across the street or across the country to the foster parents, to bringing that terrified rescued dog into love, compassion, health and well-being, to the AC and HV screening processes of new families and their homes, to the follow-up visits/calls and caring cards, to the newsletters, to the jamborees to meet and greet, to the fun on-line auctions ... this is a close family of volunteers that know ... it's all about the rat terriers. I am so proud of this group of volunteers.
I AM new volunteer out of my love for this breed. I am amazed at the love, tenacity, time spent and the overall communication and care that is given to find these sweeties the right home. I plan to foster with this group in the future.
This is an amazing dog rescue organization specializing in rat terriers. We adopted two dogs through this group and the process was flawless. Our first experience was so positive that we had no doubts about working with New Rattitude again for our second dog. The entire group of volunteers is highly committed and knowledgable about the breed. Also, they have a thorough screening process ensuring the animals are in safe, loving environments. This is crucial, as many of the dogs in their care have been bounced around a lot before finding safety with New Rattitude. The foster parents are incredible and give so much time and energy to the animals. When we adopted our second dog from New Rattitude the behavior team was ready to help when we had a few problems with barking and house breaking. I found the experience to be so positive that I was eager to lend some of my spare time to volunteer with this group. As a 100% volunteer organization, any fundraising or adoption fees go directly to rescuing more dogs. They pull dogs out of high kill shelters from all over the country, bring them to safety and find them loving homes that are forever. New Rattitude is saving lives and I absolutely love this organization!
What I love about this group, above the fact that they are doing a great job rescuing dogs, is that they are careful with their money and have almost no overhead. It's all run by volunteers and that means donations and adoption fees all get put back into helping the dogs. Their rescue processes uses best practices with careful pre-screening of both new foster homes and adoptive homes. The volunteers are friendly and supportive and very skilled at the rehab work that is sometimes needed for fearful dogs with a training support team available for foster parents and adopters with questions. I can't say enough good things about this group.
What can I say? This is a wonderful group. They have rescued so many Rat Terriers in need and some have had significant veterinary bills. Their volunteers are devoted and work very hard. They make use of every single dime that is donated. Not a penny is wasted. You can see that from their financial report. I have fostered dogs for them and also assisted in other ways. This is a well run rescue group that has excellent guidelines and procedures in place. The folks that started this group have a lot of experience in rescue and took the best from all their combined experience. A model rescue group! Check out their website! www.newrattitude.net
