nni supports the new netherland research center (nnrc) in conjunction with the new york state office of cultural education. The nnrc is respondsible for the transcription, transaltion, and publication of the 17th-century dutch colonial records held by the new york state office of cultural education. These records constitute the worlds largest collection of original documentation of the dutch west india company and its new world colonies.
special project promote recent developments in new netherldand studies and create educational opportunities. These include the organization of summer programs for teachers, the publication of educational materials, the support of senior and student scholars, participation in global mutual heritage progarms of the new netherlands, and the support and creation of public programs that promote the awareness of dutch heritage in the united states.
