Mission: Since 1996, NJ House Rabbit Society, as a chapter of the national House Rabbit Society based in CA, has aided NJ animal shelters by taking in surrendered or stray rabbits, providing them with needed medical attention and socialization, readying them for a place in a permanent home as a companion animal.NJ House Rabbit Society is dedicated to promoting rabbits as indoor companion animals. To that end, we neuter/spay and litter train foster rabbits, providing them with exercise space and play opportunity.Through education, our mission is to better prepare people for the realities of living with a rabbit thereby increasing the chances of that rabbit remaining in the adoptive home for all his life. Through promoting neuter/spay of rabbits, we hope not only to safeguard rabbit health but to stop needless breeding. Our affiliation with national House Rabbit Society keeps us apprised of the latest medical advances in rabbit care and this information can be passed on to veterinarians and the public for further consideration in the care of the animal. Rabbits are great companion animals in the same way that cats and dogs are, and we work daily to help shelters and the public view them that way.
