Programs: 2010 proved to be quite a year for new connections and irma gary house. Just to recap, new connections: re-opened irma gary house and welcomed a new executive director, staff members and residents. Added new board members. Hosted many wonderful volunteers who repainted and repaired irma gary house. Held a fun and rewarding "seeds of hope" auction that raised $10,000. Formed a new partnership with the university of puget sound occupational therapy department to provide services to women living at irma gary and in the community. Continued to build our partnership with the washington department of corrections to help women successfully re-enter society after prison. In addition, new connections received grants from associated ministries' community resource connections, city of tacoma community services, and the fund for women and girls. These grants, combined with ongoing support from old friends and new donors, have touched the lives of the women of irma gary house and their families throughout the year. The women who come to irma gary all face serious challenges upon re-entering the community after prison. Many suffer from depression and other mental health issues. Most have been abused at some point in their lives and are often dealing with addictions. They also carry the stigma of felony convictions as they begin their search for employment and housing.
