Mission: Ncnh enriches the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through training and life experiences that build self-esteem and promote personal independence at home, work, and within the community.
Programs: During 2016, 75 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities were part of our program. Ncnh programs offer a variety of job tasks designed to increase skills, knowledge, and personal independence. We teach our patrons to be as self-supporting as possible; ncnh pays our patron workers for work they perform. Resale shop - since 1995, ncnh's resale shop has provided vocational training and employment to individuals with developmental disabilities. Their tasks include taking in donations; clean, price and stock goods for sale to the public. They provide all housekeeping duties, maintaining a store that is clean and welcoming to our customers. Our patrons enjoy customer interaction and have exceptional customer service skills. Vocational and functional skills training - patrons build and decorate birdhouses, rustic benches, and other wood products. Our patrons learn to plant, weed and harvest a variety of herbs, vegetables and fruit. Our horticultural program continues to grow a variety of products that are sold at local farmers markets. There has also been intensive training for our grounds crew to help them develop skills for increased independence. We produce fresh and dried herb blends and teas, organic lotions and soaps that are also offered for sale at local markets. Our patrons also produce disposable rags, provide document shredding and provide all our house- keeping and lawn care needs.
