Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: New Beginnings Animal Rescue (NBAR) is established as an organization prioritizing the needs of its community through the lens of animal rescue. To fill the gap created when a local shelter closed in 2014, a small group of dedicated volunteers founded NBAR. The all-volunteer staff, is committed to improving the lives of abandoned, abused animals and those owners in financial need. We accomplishes our mission to provide a safe haven for homeless animals through our adoption center and foster network. We prioritize the need to eliminate cost when it concerns an animal’s wellbeing by aiding their medical bill. We are proud to be one of the only Pet Food Banks in the area and through the New Beginnings Community Food Bank, provides daily essentials for cats and dogs - such as litter and food - to local families in need.

I find pictures of dogs I would love to adopt on Petfinder linked to New Beginnings. The only replay you get is 'we will get back to you if this pet is still available'. When you go to their web page, the dog shown on pet finder is not on their web page. Is this a scam with Pet Finder or New Beginnings? For a pet rescue group, they do not respond in a friendly manner through email.

NBAR is an amazing rescue that operates a 100% no-kill shelter and means it. With a slogan of "At home with US, until they go home with YOU!", they live and breathe rescue. Operated 100% by volunteers, NBAR does a fantastic job of caring for animals until forever homes can be found. Not just 'easy cases' either. No animal has ever been (or ever will be) put down unless all other options have been exhausted. I've seen dogs and cats get surgeries with medical bills well into the thousands, but the volunteers keep fundraising year-round to make it all happen. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a better group of volunteers.
