Mission: To help individuals in need through our food bank, our furniture and basic needs bank, our community learning center, our youth program, our community outreach program, and our wheels again program and our community garden.
Programs: The neighbor's place food bank provides food to 32 food pantries and 3 homeless shelters in marathon county. In addition, we have worked with a number of pantries in neighboring counties. Over 46,480 family visits were conducted, providing food to 76,688 adults and 35,584 children.
the furniture and basic needs bank strives to meet basic needs. Too many families in the community are unable to meet even the most minimum of needs. Serious economic obstacles, lack of family support, evictions, cultural barriers, literacy barriers, weather, abuse, and many other unforeseen or uncontrollable events leave community families in desperate need. At these times of crisis, families can be left with little or nothing and broken or unsafe personal belongings. Our program is designed to provide emergency help, and then to connect these families in need with people who have help and items to give. In 2016, over 3,820 families were helped.
education is often the key to facing the challenges in our lives. We offer classes and workshops in health, language, computer skills, and more. We also offer assistance in resumes and applying for jobs. We have a free computer lab, free wi-fi, and access to community tutors in a number of subjects.
other services provided at the neighbor's place include our community gardens, wheels again and christmas assistance.
