Mission: Our mission is to bring neighbors together to reduce hunger and homelessness and to educate both young and old. We strengthen community by providing resources to support self-reliance, economic independence and dignity in people of all ages and backgrounds.
Results: Neighborhood House is celebrating 110 years of service to the Portland community this year! In 2013-14, we built and opened our beautiful new, Children’s Center in partnership with Home Forward at the Stephens Creek Crossing affordable housing community. 100% of participants in our new Parent Apprenticeship Program successfully completed the program and received their Child Development Associate credential. Three of the four participants are now employed in early childhood education. Our Head Start Program also had a banner year with respect to program impact: our students surpassed state averages on 6 of 6 educational and developmental benchmarks .

Programs: Head Start; Parenting; Child Care Improvement Program; SUN Community Schools; anti-poverty services including assistance with food, rent, utility bills and employment, and transitional housing for homeless families; and two senior centers and senior transportation programming.
