Programs: Annual nebraska academy of sciences spring meeting was held april 21, 2017 at nebraska wesleyan university. 238 papers and 17 posters were presented in 11 sections. Approximate attendance was 401; in addition over 194 attended the junior academy competition. Abstracts were printed in the program and proceedings. It is distributed to members and 340 libraries across the world. The university of nebraska-lincoln library is our depository. Plaques, medals, and certificates were also awarded. Two "friend of science" awards were given. Membership totals over 750. Newsletters and a website are maintained for the benefits of the membership. Numerous scholarships and grants were given and are detailed elsewhere in this 990pf return. Nebraska association of teachers of science partnered with the nebraska association of teachers of mathematics for the annual fall conference that was held september 7 - september 9, 2017 at younes conference center in kearney, ne. 520 teachers, members, and students attended the three day conference and registered for various sessions for elementary and secondary teachers in a number of disciplines including mathematics, earth science, chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy, ecology, etc. Sessions on teaching methods were available. Presidential awards, catalyst awards, science olympiad competitions and training meetings, and other leadership and planning conferences were also conducted or sponsored.
