Mission: To develop and provide safe and decent housing that is affordable to low- and moderate-income persons within the near-eastside of indianapolis. To work together as a neighborhood to sustain the revitalization of the near eastside of indianapolis by its constituent neighborhoods, through housing development and infrastructure improvements.
Programs: Assembling and coordinating resources to acquire and rehabilitate single family homes, for the ultimate sale or rental to eligible families.
better buildings is an energy efficiency grant program available to residents and business owners of the near eastside. Residents will qualify for $1,500 in grants and businesses/non-profits for $2,000. The grant is available to both homeowners and renters who pay their own utilities. Work performed with these funds includes: installation of insulation, installation of efficient lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (hvac), high-efficiency shower/faucet upgrades, weather sealing, the purchase and installation of energy star appliances, and the installation of solar powered appliances with improved efficiency. All participants receive an energy assessment and upgrades performed by licensed professionals.
