Causes: Environment, Environmental Education
Mission: To enhance science literacy and foster environmental stewardship.
Programs: Science literacy campaign - lack of funding for science education and field trips, low standardized test scores, growing populations, decreased water quality and habitat degredation are all issues our community faces. The science literacy campaign's projects address these problems by providing an integrated curriculum and field trips designed to improve test scores, increase science literacy, foster environmental stewardship, and directly improve the health of the watershed. Research indicates that science literacy is improved through hands-on education and historically more than 75% of students demonstrate academic gains.
