Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: The goal of the national latino peace officer association is to focus its resources to provide professional career development and eeo advocacy for its members, provide scholarships and other support to students pursuing careers in law enforcement or related fields, to assist in community-based programs focused on time reduction, and to provide resources coupled with community efforts to advance the betterment of the communities they serve.
Programs: Annual scholarship:$500 scholarship award to 12 recipients. The scholarship is awarded to high school graduates who are going to college. Award is based on academic achievements, monetary needs and recommendations from teachers.
officer assistance fund: $250, $500 and $1,300 to officers who are in need of financial assistance due to medical, on/off duty injuries and are out of work. Each year, we provide up to twenty officers who are in need. In 2017, we provided nineteen officers assistance.
officer training fund:financial assistance to officers who seek training to improve their job relateed skills. $250 for up to 10 officers, or based on money raised. In 2017, we provided 1 officer assistance.
