Programs: Disaster relief - through the national credit union's disaster relief fund & cuaid initiative, the foundation assisted more than 2,000 credit union volunteers, members and staff critical needs after being affected by numerous disasters in 2017. The national credit union foundation distributed more than $2,000,000 in disaster relief grant assistance, through and in collaboration with state leagues and foundations, to those impacted by natural disasters in texas, puerto rico, california, florida and michigan.
development education (de) - de is a 7-day full immersion program that focuses on a melding of the international operating principles of credit unions and 12 global development issues (i. E. Health, housing, access to credit, savings mobilization, appropriate technology, income generation, education, employment, women in development, environment, democratic institutions and hunger) to build a transformational learning experience for our participants. During the week, trainees delve into the history and philosophy of credit unions, they visit non-financial cooperatives to learn how the cooperative principles are used, they "live the life of a family living in poverty" through a life simulation and mystery shop credit unions, banks and alternative financial providers. All this is added to dynamic speakers, tons of group work and final presentations makes it a memorable experience for all. Since the program's inception more than 1800 credit union professionals have achieved the de certification and used this new knowledge to increase financial services to members and complete community and global service projects. In 2017, we trained more than 150 individuals.

Over the past eleven years, the foundation has granted over $37,500,000 to credit unions and other organizations. Almost $8. 5 million in disaster relief grants have been distributed since 2004.
