Mission: The climate trust mobilizes conservation finance to maximize environmental returns.
Programs: Carbon asset management. We develop, finance and oversee a broad portfolio of carbon reduction projects for utilities, corporations, universities, and government agencies. We finance projects that supply greenhouse gas emission reductions based on regulatory requirements and voluntary climate change commitments by organizations. We manage the carbon portfolio from design and start-up through registration and delivery of carbon credits following industry accepted standards. In addition, we focus on piloting new projects that generate measurable climate change and environmental benefits. The trust manages a portfolio of 40 projects, 24 of which are active.

In order to arrest the rise in greenhouse gas emissions and to avoid the most dangerous impacts of climate change, the climate trust works to accelerate project implementation, develop financing solutions, and establish a supportive policy environment in the agriculture, biogas and forestry sectors. In 2009, the climate trust formed two organizations, with the national climate trust as the parent organization for the oregon climate trust. The climate trust programs include three categories, namely 1) carbon asset management, 2) climate services, and 3) climate policy and standards.

We assist clients with the design, financing and implementation of their climate action plans and help them meet their reduction goals through specific projects and customer programs. We provide climate expertise to project developers to increase access to incentive financing, and we develop and test innovative methodoligies for new project types to enhance the current industry standards. We also provide communications and marketing support to highlight program successes and to help build momentum with constituencies that contribute to scaling up these solutions.
