Programs: Academic and professional development the largest program service of the nblsa is academic and professional development which includes several events including, but not limited to, an annual convention 6 regional conventions and job fairs alumni networking events the charles hamilton houston chapter president retreat and the e-development series. The annual and regional conventions provide a wonderful opportunity for delegates to connect with other chapters, perform community service, and participate in enriching workshops and competitions. The regional events include one day workshops designed to support nblsa members by covering a variety of topics including exam writing tips, benefits of law journal membership, and bar preparation services. The regional job fairs ae opportunities for summer associate, government, pro-bono, and in-house counsel opportunities. competitions the second largest program service are the moot, mock, and negotiation competitions held by the organization. This aspect of the organization is comprised of the frederick douglass moot court competion, thurgood marshall mock trial competition, and the nelson mandela international negotiations competition. Moot court provides law students with a platform to improve their oral advocacy skills, legal research and writing ability, and enhance their knowledge of sustantiative and procedural law. Negotiation competition provides nblsa members with exposure to alternative dispute resolution.
