Causes: Group Homes, Human Services
Mission: To provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment dedicated to assisting children and adults that are physically and/or mentally handicapped to reach their full potential and lead full lives. Our goal is to help these individuals become more interconnected with their environment, become more self-directed in their choices, and to ensure, within reason, their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Programs: My brothers' keeper has experienced personal care attendants (pcas) who are skilled at caring for multi-handicapped individuals, both young and old. Pcas have a variety of responsibilities to the client and the family, some of which include assisting in daily personal care and hygiene. They also transport or accompany adult clients to medical treatment and therapeutics and assist with medications that are normally self-administered. Pcas ensure both a healthy and safe environment in both the home and community.
my brothers' keeper operates one group home for residents who are developmentally disabled and three group homes for residents with mental illness. All houses are staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Each home has a van available for the transportation of residents to medical and dental appointments and group activities. The ultimate goal for our group home clients is to enable them to live more independently.
my brothers' keeper provides independent living services (ils), which provides in home services to individuals to support living independently in their own home. Ils includes instrumental activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, budgeting, personal needs, shopping, medical appointments, and medication assistance.
