I went to Mustang Valley Sanctuary for a clinic. What really impressed me from the start was how happy and healthy the horses were. 26 horses. Some of them had hard beginnings but that was not the life they were living. Every horse was treated as an individual with a plan and training and care as needed. Then I met Mary DeBonis, the founder and Director, and I found her understanding of horses and her commitment to sanctuary truly beautiful. i took a second clinic there. Then I became a volunteer. Because something this good deserves support. (Photo by Mary of Shelby Mustang)
Visiting and volunteering at Mustang Valley has been life-changing. Mary, the primary caretaker, is kind, patient, and has so much love for all of the animals. They all receive the best care possible. I was impressed with the fact that Mary had trainers to work with the horses each day. My children also enjoyed their visit and were welcomed. Our experience allowed us to get to know the horses and staff well enough to decide to adopt a mustang of our own from there. I thank God for Mary’s love and ambition every day.
