Programs: Ultimate reentry opportunity (uro) is an initiative of mrc, established in 2014, dedicated to facilitating collective community work between private and public sectors and formerly incarcerated individuals to actively transform the culture and process of reentry and reduce the risk of rearrest and re-incarceration in tompkins county. The uro initiative is creating a unique approach to collectively develop, implement and support a coordinated reentry system in tompkins county. The reentry mentoring program is tompkins county's first and only program of its kind that provides support and guidance to formerly incarcerated adults with navigating available community resources as they develop personal skills to successfully transition back into their communities.

talking circles on race & racism brings together 14-16 racially diverse participants over a six week period for 2-hour sessions in a facilitated environment. We engage in diverse in-depth activities (dialogue & work sessions) that dismantle systemic racism, build strategies for resistance and alternatives, and promote healing practices for racial trauma/wounds.

youth organizing fellowship brings together racially & culturally diverse high schoolers to co-create a learning community and develop the hard skills of organizing & racial justice leadership, the analytic tools of political education, and the social consciousness of cultural intelligence to take effective action for social change. The youth organizing fellows are currently working on a campaign to implement participatory budgeting (pb) in the city of ithaca.

we host various other programs including: workshops & trainings offer dynamic, transformative learning spaces on equity, racial justice, decolonization, cultural intelligence, allyship, & intersectionality. Our offerings are customizable for large or small groups, professional or casual workplaces/organizations, age levels, orientations, and backgrounds. Mrc lending resources serve as an open resource of study for community members. Our primary focus is to provide access to text at the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality and colonialism. Artist & film series is a collective effort with cinemapolis, academic partners and community artists dedicated to the amplification of artists of color. The series aims to engage audiences for an immersive exchange of narratives, insights and ideas around social justice issues curated with an eye toward the intersection of history, cultural identity, and creative direction. For information on upcoming screenings, please check our facebook page! First peoples' festival is an annual october event held in downtown ithaca. The festival is a joint effort with the downtown ithaca alliance in partnership with apple harvest festival. This festival features indigenous performers, food and craft vendors, educational booths, workshops, and children's activities. Sister friends is an annual march celebration of women of all ages, sizes, religions, ethnicities and cultures. The event showcases a women's market, inspiring featured guest speakers, and amazing performances by women and girls that live and work in tompkins county.
