Mission: To support the marcellus shale coalition.
Programs: The msc foundation was formed to educate the general public about the development of the marcellus and other geological shale formations and the production of natural gas from shale. Its educational campaigns have included and/or will include the following:-a learn about shale campaign: the campaign provides the public with information regarding the marcellus shale and production of natural gas from shale. Also the campaign provides a forum for the public to ask about shale in response to educational materials available. More than 1,000 individuals have submitted questions. The educational effort can be accessed via the web at www. Learnaboutshale. Org. -educational videos regarding shale energy development activities. -providing funds to study data from a pre-existing database to analyze private water well data; the results will be made available to the public. -scholarship funding for students studying in the energy field. -funding the study of the impact of marcellus shale upon the economy of washington county, pennsylvania where activity related to the development of the marcellus shale is concentrated. In addition to the above educational type activities, the foundation also sponsors events held by charities that promote conservation and the environment, such as a tree planting event and a three rivers challenge fishing event focused on the quality of the region's three rivers.
