The Morrow County ERC was started to coordinate emergency services for families (food, heat, shelter, clothing, Rx) in our small rural county in Central Ohio. As various needs arise, the committee meets to discuss how the problem can be handled. Sometimes special funding grants are received and this group can get the monies out quickly through cooperation.
The ongoing major project is the Community Food Pantry located at 619 West Marion Rd, Entrance C, Mt Gilead, OH 43338. The Pantry is open from 9am to 11:45am Monday- Thursday and residents can request a 3 day supply of food once per month. Donations from individuals and small organizations keep the pantry well stocked.
The Pantry is operated through the efforts of several agencies who furnish space, staff, and supplies. This allows every dollar donated to go directly to the purchase of food. Over 10,000 individuals were assisted last year.
