Causes: Education, Secondary & High Schools
Mission: Mcp middle & high school provides a unique college preparatory educational experience for highly capable, gifted & talented students; including those with learning differences.
Programs: Monterey coast preparatory (mcp) is a small non-profit, independent middle & high school serving a specialized segment of students: students with varied learning differences, including those who are gifted & talented/learning disabled. Our teacher to student ratio of 1:4, small class sizes averaging 5-8 students, and personalized learning plans provide our students with the support & skills to succeed when they have been unsuccessful in more traditional programs. Mcp provides a unique opportunity to students who have not found success in traditional school programs, with a college readiness focus that is sorely needed for students with learning differences. Students with learning differences are typically accepted and then graduate from college at rates much lower than children under the poverty level and other underserved communities in the us. At mcp, in any given graduating class, 80-100% of our students are in college within a year or have enrolled in equally demanding technical/specialty skilled career programs.
