Mission: The Montclair Police Athletic League was established in 1996. Our mission is to promote trust, understanding and respect between youth and the police officers. The MPAL seeks to foster and encourage a spirit of loyalty and faith in the American traditions and institutions, to promote the spirit of benevolence, friendship, sociability, goodwill and tolerance; to cultivate and improve the moral and civic standards, to encourage active participation in constructive movements and endeavors for the promotion of the interest and general welfare of the youth of the community; to provide a safe meeting place where the youth may enjoy educational or social benefits and athletic activities under competent supervision.
Results: The MPAL continues its mission through its basketball program, summer camp scholarships, annual fishing derby, and Friday Activity Nights, Police Explorers Program, and Junior Police Academy. The basketball program consists of four boys and two girls teams, fall and spring skills development sessions, and summer camp scholarships.
