Mission: The molecular psychiatry association was founded in 2013 to promote research and communication of research findings that may lead to a better understanding of the molecular basis of psychiatric disorders. Varying approaches are being applied and include neurobiology, genetics, brain imaging, biomarkers, brain expression, neural stem cells, animal models and novel drug development. The primary activity of the association is an annual meeting. The association and its annual meeting is open to all professionals who are interested in molecular foundations of psychiatric disorders. By bringing together investigators with varied molecular approaches it is hoped that cross-fertilization and collaborations will take place.
Programs: The molecular psychiatry association held its 5th annual meeting over 3 days october 6 - 8th, 2017. There were 18 sessions on various topics related to molecular psychiatry and approximately 75 talks. The meeting also had 3 plenary sessions given by distinguished investigators. Approximately 171 researchers attended the meeting.
