Causes: Christianity, Religion
Mission: To honor god by building a culture of achievement and hope through education, healthy activities, connection to resources, and faith development.
Programs: Education: mobile hope has had the primary focus of educational development of students since it was founded. Our largest programs address educational development through a daily homework help program, english language classes, ged classes, and summer school opportunities. In addition, we partner with rockford early childhood to provide early childhood development opportunities for children under 5. Each week, 48 volunteers assist in providing 150 students the help they need to stay on track with homework, projects, and assignments. Teachers continue to report higher completion rates and grades between students that participate at mobile hope and those that do not. Additionally, to address summer slide, we offer summer school for four weeks prior to the start of the new school year enabling students to start the year successfully and reduce some of the achievement gap.
at risk youth: mobile hope became an area provider for the treehouse program for at-risk youth and families in 2016. This year, those programs were expanded to include a weekly youth program called "the journey," peer support groups, and one-on-one mentoring. This structure allows students to connect in a safe environment, learn about life and faith, support one another and express feelings, and growing adult/youth relationships.
aspen house: aspen trees always grow in clusters because their shared root systems provide the strength, stability, and support needed for each of the other trees to survive. The aspen house is a new program launched in 2017 in partnership with lord of life lutheran church, in which a single mother and family can move into a home and be surrounded by a family support network of individuals offering help and guidance in areas such as financial management, job and career support, home care, parenting, faith development, and accountability.
other programs offered by mobile hope include: getting ahead workshops for adults, food distribution programs, adult social gatherings, advocacy, and the operation of a 3500 sf community center built on-site to provide residents with an 11 station computer lab and printer, game room for teens, fitness center with 6 machines and universal gym, arts and crafts center, kitchen, and large gathering space. Annually, a sports camp, vacation bible school, summer activities, and camp scholarships are offered for healthy activities enriching lives of kids.
