Mission: The mission of the organization is to weave dr. Martin luther king's philosophies of non-violence and principles of social justice, excellence in achievement and human values into the fabric of the sacramento community. The organization's goal is to transform the greater sacramento area into what dr. King described as a "beloved community," a real world version of an ideal place for all residents.
Programs: For the past thirty-four years, sacramento has come together to celebrate thebirthday and to honor the legacy of dr. Martin luther king, jr. By offeringopportunities for employment, education, and health service resources. This is thesacramento region's largest and most diverse mlk event bringing more than 28,000people to the sacramento convention center. The organization sponsors an annual march, after which celebrants enter thesacramento convention center for a job fair and expo. The event features localbusinesses, non-profits, and public agencies offering job information; there is ahands-on art room for children; musical performances take place throughout theday; health service programs distribute materials; and educational opportunitiesare presented.
