Mission health is the only health system in the nation to receive this recognition four consecutive years, and the only health system in north carolina to achieve top 15 recognition. Mission health system received the culture of excellence award in 2016 from professional research consultants. Mission hospital earned a "blue cross and blue shield cutting-edge hospital" ranking for bariatric surgery and maternity care in 2016 by business north carolina. Mission hospital received the excellence recognition in 2016 from "healthy together nc" for reaching the highest standards in workplace health and prevention. Mission health earned a gold award in 2016 from the north carolina department of labor's safety awards program. Mission hospital was ranked no. 2 and no. 1 in the "best hospital" category in 2015 and 2016, respectively, by business north carolina. Mission hospital earned a check++ rating (highest rating) for "overall hospital care" in 2015 from carechex. Mission hospital was named among the nation's top 100 hospitals in 2015 by truven health analytics for the seventh consecutive year. the organization provides community benefits as detailed on page 1 of schedule h. Grants which represent partnerships with community organizations are detailed below, with the largest on schedule i. Other community benefits include the cost of care for uninsured, underinsured and other means-tested programs for patients. In addition to the cost of care for patients listed above, the organization provides significant community health improvement services and community benefits at little or no charge. The organization provides health professions education as well as workforce development to recruit physicians to serve in areas of medical need. Subsidized health services include medical care for services for which the cost of providing care exceeds the revenue including physician clinics primarily serving pediatric specialty patients, trauma care, psychiatric and senior services.
