When I worked at Miramonte in the late 1980's as a social worker working with Senior citizens, visiting them in their homes, but also interacting with other staff, I thought the staff were the most dedicated to their clients that I had seen.
Most of the staff had great experience and went well beyond what was required of their 40 hours and their job titles to provide safe, comfortable, happy care to their mental health clients.
I remember on my exit interview I even stated something of that nature to my supervisor, about how they maintain such high level staff with such low salaries (being a not-for-profit) in the most expensive place to live in the Country!! No answer was really given, and I know many of the men were heads of households! Clearly, many of them have a great 'heart' for this client population!
