Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: Refuge friends inc is a non profit citizens organization dedicated to assisting and supporting the minnesota valley national wildlife refuge and wetland management district with its mission to restore and manage the ecological communities of the lower minnesota river valley and its watershed while providing environmental education and wildlife recreation. Our goals are to promote awareness of the refuge and develop understanding and engagement of people through community outreach and advocacy activities.
Programs: During this reporting year the refuge friends, inc continued to expand the blue goose bus program. We provided transportation to students of participatiing schools enabling them to learn about the refuge and its wildlife.
conducted tours and assisted in events on the refuge to promote awareness of its natural and cultural history.
published quarterly newsletter and informational material to develop knowledge of the refuge.
sponsored research in to prairie fires.
